FlowerWelcome to Learning on the Land

Currently Learning on the Land is a holiday scheme running for a week in the Summer and Easter. The program aims to give children the opportunity to step outside the modern, high pressure world and experience a simpler, more wholesome way of being. The program aims to develop three key areas: confidence being outdoors, knowledge about farming and where our food comes from and cooking & craft skills. The courses run in all weathers, so we ask children to come with appropriate warm clothing, wellies and a full change of clothes.

"There is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes".

In the future it is hoped that we may be able to set up a residential school farm with similar aims in partnership with Tablehurst and Plawhatch Community Farm.

The program is designed such that children will have opportunities to develop the following:

  • Cooking skills
  • Expertise and understanding of seasonal crafts
  • Gain confidence being outdoors, taking risks and learning new skills
  • Develop knowledge and understanding about where our food comes from
  • Develop friendships with children of different ages
  • And most of all have fun in a relaxed informal outdoor environmentFlower

Each week is run by experienced teachers with all activities risk assessed
